Reading done in 2007
December 24, 2007
I started maintaining an online reading list late this year. That’s why it’s so short. Let’s start off with some awards.
Best book: A fine balance, Rohinton Mistry
For it’s brutally honest potrayal of Indian life in all its squalor, corruption and bleakness.
Worst book: False impression, Jeffrey Archer
For it’s piss-poor grammar and weak plot. Me read – now stupidder
Book I wish I had read: Harry Potter and the deathly hallows by J. K. Rowling
The list
- Sons and lovers, D.H. Lawrence
- The inheritance of loss, Anita Desai
- False impression, Jeffrey Archer
- Angela’s Ashes : A memoir, Frank McCourt
- Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Harriet Beecher Stowe
- Autobiography of a yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda
- A fine balance, Rohinton Mistry (truly the India novel)
- Moneychangers, Arthur Hailey
- The final diagnosis, Arthur Hailey
